Illusione MK

This is a small cigar from the Illusione line of smokes that I have always enjoyed. The cigar presents well with a nice dark brown wrapper the color of lightly creamed coffee. The construction is firm, but has no spots that indicate trouble. The pre light aroma is sour. The pre light draw shows notes of coffee and light chocolate.

The cigar stats with a nice profile of coffee, chocolate and light pepper. The depth of flavors is exceptional is a cigar of this size. At the back of the palate there are stronger flavors of pepper and some notes of earth. The draw is nearly perfect to this point and the burn is strong, producing a nice white ash.

The first half continues to impress with rich coffee notes and some light chocolate flavors. At the back of the palate there is a satisfying mingling of pepper and earth. The draw continues to perform well and the burn is razor sharp.

The final half of the cigar deteriorates slightly. The profile shows coffee and light spice notes, but some of the depth has disappeared. At the back of the palate there is some bitterness that has crept into the mix, but there are still some nice tobacco and pepper flavors. The draw and burn continue to be impressive.

The finish is middling, but shows notes of coffee, earth and pepper mingled with some bitter notes of charred paper.

Appearance- 90 a nice looking smoke
Taste- 88 a nice profile that was hurt in the final half
Construction- 95 a fine example of a nearly flawless smoke
Strength- 87 a nice medium that could use some more pop
Overall- 90.5 a nice solid smoke for early in the day
