Carillo Inaugural 2009

This is a new offering from Ernesto Perez Carillo of La Gloria Cubana fame. The cigar is beautiful with a chestnut hued wrapper that is flawlessly applied. It has few veins and no flaws. The cigar is a bit soft, but I detect no flaws upon inspection. The pre light aroma is of roasted nuts and light cinnamon. The pre light draw is of light tobacco and earth.

The cigar opens extremely mildly with notes of nuts, earth and tobacco. The burn is excellent and the ash is firm with a dark gray coloring. The cigar lacks a full smoke, but there is enough there for me. The development through the first third stays consistent.

At just past the one third point the smoke picks up depth and I detect notes of cream and a toasty character that is unique and excellent. There are undertones of roasted nuts and cinnamon that are dancing across the back of the palate. The burn is strong and the draw is perfect.

The final half of this cigar ranks with the best I have ever smoked. There is the development of pepper and tobacco flavors. The cigar strengthens from a medium to a full bodied experience. The burn is excellent and there have been no flaws.

The finish is a bomb of pepper and notes of rich tobacco that lingers on the palate for several minutes. This is an incredible smoking experience that borders on being ritualistic.

Apperance- 95 a beautiful cigar to behold
Taste- 96 so much depth and complexity, but a fantastic balance of flavor
Construction- 97 an excellent example of a well made cigar
Strength- 93 a fine medium start with and excellent full bodied finish
Overall- 95.25 this is a must smoke for cigar enthusiasts
