Trinidad Maduro Robusto

This is a dark maduro wrapper that teems with oils. There are some prominent veins in the wrapper and the cigar shows some firmness that has me concerned. The pre light aroma is sour, but has notes of dark fruit. The pre light draw is earthy and rich.

The cigar begins with an enticing note of dark fruit and earth, it is somewhat muddled by a sour note that is showing at the back of the palate about an inch into the cigar. The burn is solid, but the draw is tight and only some labor produces an acceptable amount of smoke. The first third of the cigar maintains these characteristics.

At just before the halfway point the profile takes on some notes of rich tobacco, the dark fruit and earthy notes are still present. Unfortunately the draw has not yet improved, but the burn is still solid.

The final half of the cigar shows some notes of cocoa and tobacco, but the sour notes have re-entered the experience. The draw has remained tight, but the burn is consistent.

The finish is mediocre and notes of earth and rich tobacco, there is a sour aftertaste.

Appearance- 86 prominent veining hurts the score
Taste- 80 this was severely hurt by the recurring sour notes
Construction- 75 a bad draw hurts this score
Strength- 88 a pleasing medium/full offering that compliments the profile
Overall- 82.25 a sub par experience
