La Riqueza No.4

This is a Pepin/Johnson offering that I had not smoked in some time. It is pricey for the size, but an elegant looking smoke. The wrapper is a beautiful medium brown presentation with few flaws, and the construction appears to be excellent. The pre light aroma is floral, with notes of light tobacco. The pre light draw hints of tobacco and spice.

The cigar begins with a smooth and easy draw that produces ample smoke. The profile is complex and has layers of depth. I am presented with flavors of roasted nuts, spice, tobacco, coffee and cocoa bean. These all compliment one another with flawless precision. The burn is superb, but the ash is a bit flaky.

This cigar continues to develop well and there are further notes of tobacco, cocoa and spice. There is a floral undertone that develops at the back of the palate during the smoke that offers a sweetness that is unexpected. The burn continues to be crisp while the ash remains flaky.

The finish is long and flavorful, with notes of rich tobacco and cocoa. There are also still some floral undertones that are complimenting the core of flavor.

Appearance- 93 an elegant appearance
Taste- 94 an excellent complex profile
Construction- 93 no issues, but the ash did not hold together well
Strength- 89 this is a medium/full offering, but could use some more power to compliment the complexity
Overall- 92.25 a superlative experience
